Tonarine Sai debuted around December 14, 2007, Her name comes from the phrase "隣の騒音がうるさい" (the noise from the neighbor is annoying loud). Tonari (neighbor) ne (sound) Urusai (literally means "you're being noisy").
Design[]
As a character, she is a tall girl with long curly pink hair and styled with two buns at the top of her head. She dresses very similar to Hatsune Miku, but wears a pair of spats (JP: spandex pants). Her eye color varies from artists to artist, though they are commonly seen in shades of magenta or red.
Personality[]
There is currently no official information on her personality. It is the fandom that tends to portray her as a cheerful girl who likes to sing.
Biography[]
A Vocaloid derivative character, but notable in that her songs were actually sung by a real person and modified to sound like synthesized vocals, so they were similar in sound to a Vocaloid. The name was created because she thought her neighbors would say she was too loud, since the artist for Sai apparently recorded out of her bedroom.
In February 2008, the singer stated that they would retire, but claimed they could be persuaded to stay as Sai if one of their uploads reached 10k in views. However, during 2010 the account associated with Sai has been closed and a number of her works have been deleted, no clear information on why. The assumption is that the singer no longer has the time to continue with this persona. However, much of her works has been reprinted on various video share sites.
Voice configuration[]
Tonarine Sai voice came from a human amateur singer who digitally altered her recordings to produce a Vocaloid-like effect. Whatever equipment or programs that were used to produce this effect were never revealed by the singer.
