! Hey~! This page documents an official Fanloid Wiki policy~!

It is a widely accepted standard that should normally be followed by all editors.
This policy in a nutshell states:

  • Courteous considerations for image uploads
  • Wikia is not an image host or repository
  • Do not upload spam images
  • About recolors and edited works
  • How to title your image upload
  • How many images to upload

Note

  • Disregarding the image policy leads to file deletion or file renaming.
  • If you want to display personal images then use a real image hosting service such as Photobucket, Tinypic, or Imageshack.

Changes to these policies should be proposed and discussed in this → forum.

Sourcing

With the exception of a Fanloid user being the creator and owning image. All images must have clear source info as to where the image is from. For this, they need to have an imagebox filled out. If an image isn't sorted correctly, Unknown image will be added to the page and the uploader will be warned that the image may be deleted if it isn't sourced properly within a given amount of time.

To source an image correctly, the uploader needs to go to the page of the image itself, not the page where the image is uploaded, click to edit the page and add the Imagebox template. To information to fill out the given parameters correctly, can be found here.

View the Image category, and notice how each user can sort their images by their user name after uploading, this mainly falls into multiple uploads by the same user. The "images of fanmades" category is suitable for all fanmade character images, "fairuse" category is for images of someone else's fanmade, and "various subjects" is for images that don't relate fully to the wikis intent.

Image Quality

  • Format - There are several file extensions that can be uploaded to Wikis, with the most common being .JPG, .PNG, and .GIF
  • Size - When it comes to the size ratio of scanned work, please attempt to downsize ridiculously large images that can go over or exceed 1000x1000, This is usually an image that hits 3000x or more. Remember, large images can cause loading issues for others.

About User image policy

  • Do not use the Wikia as an image host-!!
• Please understand that this wiki prefers on topic media first, rather than uploads done at random for User page decoration.

General

What to- and what not to upload

  • Do not upload spam images.
• Do not upload indiscriminate images or manipulated images. If they serve no purpose to the wiki then they will be deleted.
• Do not upload the fanart of another for unsuitable purposes without their permission. Meaning, if the image is for fair use then it is fine to use, however, if not then please respect the artist and leave the image on their site.
• Do not upload images strictly of UTAUloids, this isn't the UTAU wiki. The exception, an image of an UTAUloid with your Vocaloid character or if an image of an UTAUloid is required because it is being used on a story page.
• Do not upload pornographic materials. This goes against Wikia 'Term of Use' and is just outright inappropriate.
  • Recolors and lazy edits of another persons completed works is discouraged and will be a candidate for deletion.
• Please understand, this wiki encourages you to try and draw your own images.
• As stated above, do not use someone's original art for unsuitable purposes. Meaning, do not upload an image of someone's character and claim it as your original character.
• The exception is fair use works / screen caps / stock images for story pages to give the readers a visual idea.
• You can try using artwork that allows alteration and distribution by permission (and policy) of the original artist(s), however, your work should show effort.
• Finding a doll base or character generator is recommended, the bases should be free to use and under fair use.
• You can request an artist to help draw your characters, logos, and other images. The artist of the image(s) must be credited by some means.
• MikuMikuDance models are very much accepted, but please respect the creators of the models and get permission and follow their policies before editing their works.
  • Notice
• It is obvious that KEI's drawing of Hatsune Miku boxart is incredibly popular, it has been used countless of times under the fair use clause. Using official Vocaloid boxart for base work is fine, however, your work should show effort.
  • Please give uploaded images suitable and descriptive names. The following example names are common with new wiki contributors and due to it being common it will cause an uploading conflict, they will be renamed if discovered.
• Uploads with titles such as these are unacceptable. ofhgkdhgvk33tr35634vnih., 1234567890., thisismyimageblah., image., IMG., untitled., 1.png and so on.

How to title your image upload

  • How to title your character images and other uploads relating to you. Images with the intention of being used for your characters and pages should start with your username or a name you like to use.

Examples.
The image can be titled whatever you want, just put your Username before uploading.

• Yourname_Charactername
• Yourname_Charactername_subject
• Yourname_Seriesname_subject
• Yourname_Logoname

As long as the image belongs to you in relation to your creations, was created for you and will be used on pages you've created, then your username must be a part of it. If you want to place your multiple images in a category relating to yourself then consider the following or . User name categories should link that to .

  • How to title uploads relating to the wikis intent; they are of someones fanmade, or images that are not yours. Images with the intention of being used for other peoples characters and pages- should start with the character presented in the image and then the artists username.
The idea is something like this " Image_Zatsune_Miku.jpg ". If there is more than one image of the same character then add "-img (number)" simply a number or the subject at the end of the image name. Do this number count for any additional images.

Examples.
As long as the file name is descriptive and has "Image_", then it can be uploaded.

• Image_Charactername (only if un-sourced)
• Image_Charactername byArtistname
• Image_Charactername_byArtistname subject
• Image_Charactername_subject
• Image_Seriesname
• Image_Seriesname_subject
• Image_Logoname

See the Imagebox template to fill out sourced information on the image, that is if any can be provided. This is done to give credit to the original author and so others are aware of its origins; though it is understandable that the author(s) can not be located.

To sort these images into a category, consider the following , it will link to . Take notice that just because a fanmade is online and on someones site, it doesn't mean they want the character and its information displayed elsewhere. You should get permission to copy the information to this wiki before creating a page. The exception, characters that were created with the intention of being used by the fandom and Vocaloid community, like Akita Neru for example.

  • How to title uploads relating to the wikis intent; they are images that are not yours by copyright status. Images with the intention of being used for pages (such as story pages)- should start with "Image_" then the subject of the image.
The idea is something like this " Image_of_Flower_Garden.jpg ". If there is more than one image of the same subject then add "-img (number)" simply a number or the subject at the end of the image name. Do this number count for any additional images.

Examples

• Image_Subject
• Image_of_Subject

See the Imagebox template to fill out sourced information on the image, that is if any can be provided. This is done to give credit to the original author and so others are aware of its origins; though it is understandable that the author(s) can not be located.

To sort these images into a category, consider the following . Take notice that just because an image is online and on someones site, it doesn't mean they want that image and its information displayed elsewhere. You should get permission to copy the information to this wiki before creating a page. The exception, images that were created with the intention of being used by the public, like Wikimedia Commons for example.

How many images to upload

When it comes to your own characters and ideas the image limit is flexible and can be discussed. As stated before, this wiki is not an image repository, this isn't a gallery site to display every single drawing you do, it isn't a site to upload multiple fan artworks. If you want others to see your many artworks then sign up to an art community and link to it, please. Take notice that just because artwork of a fanmade is online and on someones site, it doesn't mean they want the artwork displayed elsewhere. You should get permission before uploading the image or make note that the image is of fair use. Many artists would prefer for you to link to their website or website gallery instead.

Simple request - Upload only significant artwork!, artwork that benefits your pages.

here are some starter ideas

• A concept, sketch, doodle. Should be multiple concepts on one page
• A full body concept that is not a poor sketch or doodle. (This artwork can be used for the infobox)
• A full body concept with an attire and accessories diagram
• A final artwork piece. A completed character, color or black-white. (This artwork is recommended for the infobox)
• An icon, 100x100, if you decide to upload one
The icon can be used on pages such as series pages with a member list and derivative pages etc.
Use this File:Unknown-icon.png when you have no character to add for the infobox; Icon = Fanloid or Image, Not Available.

here are some gallery ideas

• A dynamic drawing of your character(s)
• A dynamic drawing of your series characters together or a group shot
• A few comic stripes, story scenes, an original PV(music vid) screen cap, an album cover, your character with someone else's character etc.
• Wallpaper (the only images that should really be slightly over 1000X1000)

As stated above in how to title your image upload, these images should have your username and then the subject.

Changes to these policies should be proposed and discussed on the → forum or talk page. So the idea list can be expanded on and subject to change at anytime.
